Opportunities for Ministry in the Auckland Diocese

Diocesan Manager

Following an internal change of responsibilities in the Auckland Diocese where the current Manager will be focusing on a newly created role, the Diocese is now looking for an experienced business professional to replace him.

This position serves and supports the Bishop and Assistant Bishop of Auckland in the exercise of their ministry and the extension of the Mission of the Anglican Church. Reporting to the Diocesan Council and working closely with the Bishop, the role has responsibility for a team of six people based at Neligan House in Parnell.

The key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Liaising with the clergy in the Diocese on all financial matters including stipends and pensions;
  • Financial management of the Diocesan budget which includes working with the accountant on the preparation of the annual accounts, managing payroll, expenditure, cashflow and investment activity;
  • Ministry unit liaison, providing advice on all administration which includes Human Resource support, legislative compliance and Health and Safety, attending local meetings as required;
  • Legal and Secretarial duties, providing advice on Church Law and Statutes and acting as Secretary to the Diocesan Synod, Council and associated bodies. This also includes being Secretary and Treasurer of the Anglican Trusts Board and managing its operations;
  • Overseeing communications for the Diocese;
  • Working closely with the Property Manager to manage the Diocese’s property assets.

This is a pivotal role which will appeal to an energetic, pragmatic and commercially focused business professional who embraces Anglican values and is keen to work with key stakeholders to take the Diocese forward and ensure it is well positioned for the future in an ever changing environment. An under-standing of the ethos and structure of the Anglican Church would be an advantage.
