Anglican Archives Committee
Responsibilities
- Administers the Archives on behalf of
General Synod / Te Hinota Whanui, and the Board of Governors of St John’s
College
- Advises General Synod / Te Hinota Whanui
on all matters relating to Church Archives
- Ensures ready access to Archives
- Encourages Dioceses / Hui Amorangi to have
a proper care for Diocesan / Hui Amorangi and parochial archives
Membership
The Anglican Archives Committee is responsible
and reports to General Synod / Te Hinota Whanui
Three members are appointed by General Synod / Te
Hinota Whanui, and three by the Board of Governors of the College of Saint John
the Evangelist
The Librarian of the College of Saint John the
Evangelist and the General Secretary of the Anglican Church are members
The Committee has the power to co-opt people with
specialist skills
The Care of Archives
Chairpersons and secretaries of
Commissions and other bodies relating to the common life of the Anglican Church
are responsible for transferring their archives to the Anglican Church Archives
at the College of Saint John the Evangelist.
Diocesan Synods and Hui Amorangi are
responsible for maintaining their own archives and exercising oversight for the
maintenance and preservation of parochial, pastorate, mission, and other
archival records.
