CATHEDRAL PRECENTOR – HOLY TRINITY CATHEDRAL

Full-time, stipendiary position – commencing late January 2026

Holy Trinity Cathedral, the Mother Church of the Anglican Diocese of Auckland, is seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced priest to the role of Cathedral Precentor.

This is a key leadership position within the Cathedral’s ministry team, with particular responsibility for shaping and leading the worshipping life of the Cathedral through liturgy and music. The successful candidate will join a vibrant and inclusive faith community, committed to excellence in worship, hospitality, and service.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and shaping the Cathedral’s liturgical life, with a strong focus on music and worship

• Oversight and coordination of all Cathedral liturgical teams

• Chaplaincy to the Cathedral Choir and St Mary’s Singers

• Regular priestly ministry, including presiding, preaching, and officiating at baptisms, weddings, funerals, and pastoral care

• Shared leadership (with the Dean) of the Cathedral’s Adult Education programme

• Working collaboratively with the Dean, Cathedral clergy, staff, and wider community

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• A deep love of liturgy and music as a vehicle for worship

• Strong leadership and people management skills

• A collaborative and collegial spirit

• A welcoming, inclusive, and pastoral approach

• Creativity, motivation, and initiative

• Organisational skill and attention to detail

• A good sense of humour and a grounded, prayerful presence
