Our Vision

Craighead Diocesan School, Timaru, provides a comprehensive education for girls from Year 7 through to Year 13 for boarding and day girls. We have a strong emphasis on wellbeing and pastoral care, as well as academic success. A Craighead Diocesan School education is founded on Anglican values with a focus on service and wellbeing and offered within a modern school environment promoting diversity, innovation, and sustainability. Each student is set up for success, joining a global alumni network of wahine toa with the courage to embrace change, the confidence to lead, the desire to learn, and the drive to make a positive impact on the world.

The Role

Craighead Diocesan School is seeking a Chaplain to lead the worship and spiritual life of our school which is an integrated school within the New Zealand educational framework. This is an exceptional opportunity to pastorally support our wonderful school, celebrating 111 years of outstanding education with a strong community focus and a reputation of academic, sporting and artistic excellence.

The position involves maintaining and growing our school’s strong spiritual and pastoral culture, with an engaging religious education programme to meet the needs of our students, staff and wider community. The Chaplain is an integral member of the school’s leadership team and will work closely with the Principal to promote the school’s vision, faith and values in the school community.

Applicants for this role should be registered teachers (or in the process of securing registration), experienced in Anglican worship leading and pastoral care, preferably having worked in a school environment and taught religious education, with demonstrable skills in relating to students, staff and wider school community. In keeping with the Anglican character and heritage of the school, we have a preference for an ordained Anglican priest in good standing with their current Diocese.
